About Your Sharks of Ocean Forests Dive Expedition
Coastal kelp forests of Walker Bay in the heart of the Cape Whale Coast Hope Spot.
07h30: Meet at the New Harbour for a 15 minute briefing. 07h45: Depart for dive location 1. 08h30: Arrive at your first dive site, kit up and its overboard to meet our diverse sharks. 10h30: Arrive at dive location 2, kit up and jump in to experience your second exciting diverse sharks site. On each dive your expedition leader will guide you in underwater tagging and sampling of sharks in our stunning coastal kelp forests. 12h30: Arrival back in the New Harbour and scientific debriefing.
Sunscreen, appropriate (warm) clothing, a change of clothing, camera, hat. Tanks and weights for two dives are included. Additional scuba diving gear can be rented for a cost of R450pp.
The Expedition Science
During the Sharks of Ocean Forests Diving Expedition you will assist the expedition leader as she captures, tags and samples sharks... all the while working underwater and getting hands-on shark science experience! When you join this expedition you will help us collect invaluable data on shark diversity, abundance and movement ecology in one of the most productive ecosystems in South Africa.
